Xorg with Mali graphics acceleration

Thank to hardware hackers and reverse engineering, graphics can be accelerated using OpenGLES (there are also plans to support CedarX!!!). The driver is not available in standard Debian repos, but you can easily install Mali driver from Cubian built-in repo.

Also, we want minimal version, without X games and X additional tools. To install core Xorg we have to type:

sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-core xinit xserver-xorg-video-sunximali sunxi-disp-test

Please note that installation may take some time - plug device to power adaptor.

  • Note: after downloading all files, you will be asked about your keyboard layout - choose one of proposed

Also, when installation is done, we have only Xorg server. To work with graphical application, we need graphical desktop environment, like XFCE. You can also look at full comparation of desktop environments.
