SLiM Display Manager

Xorg Display Manager is a program that allows the starting of user session from the same or another computer. A session starts when the user successfully enters a valid combination of username and password - Wikipedia.

Every desktop environment has own display manager. But because we have limited resources, I will choose something faster - for example SLiM. SLiM have some nice features:

  • Changing fonts of login screen
  • Themes support
  • Single (only password) or double (username+password) input control
  • Configuration saved in one file - /etc/slim.conf

To install SLiM, we need to type only one command

sudo apt-get install slim

Changes will be visible after tablet reboot:

Now we can check if Xorg drivers are working correctly
